Sunday School

What We Offer

First Presbyterian Church seeks to offer an effective Christian Education program designed to assist children and adults in developing a mature faith with emphasis on both learning and doing.

Sunday School and Christian Education

Pastor Lisa will lead a Bible Study beginning Tuesday June 5 at 1:00 in the Library.

The Study covers various Old and New Testament passages that inform our identity as followers of Jesus.

This is more than a study; it will include liturgy and prayers, conversations and silence and maybe even singing!

The Study is designed for growth in biblical knowledge as well as personal spiritual growth.

Sunday School

Our last day for Sunday School is May 13th.  We will start again in September after Labor Day.  This has been a fun and exciting year.

Our success comes from many helpful hands throughout the year.  Thank you all.

Children's Sunday

May 13th was Children's Sunday. We enjoyed a wonderful celebration, enjoyed the children singing songs, ringing bells and reading scriptures.  We recognized our teachers, staff and our three 2nd graders who received their Bibles.  What a wonderful way to celebrate Mother's day in our church family!

Thank you!

Thank you to all that made donations towards the Easter Egg hunt.  With your help 65 children came to visit that day with their families.  Many were brave enough to have pictures with the Easter Bunny too.  Lots of very happy children, parents and grandparents.  This was a wonderful community event.  Special thanks to Julia Ward and her children as well as all the volunteers.  Together we achieve good things.

Christian Education Notes

The next few months will be busy for Christian Education.  We are planning for Children's Sunday, the church family trip to see Seussical, and VBS.

We are going to Nazareth this summer for VBS.  The trip starts Sunday July 22nd and will last for five nights.  Save the dates, come join the fun.  Learn about the village that Jesus grew up in.  The merchant tents will be up, purchases can be made with the gold coins you will earn on this trip. There will be music, games, crafts, story time and snack.   PreK to 5th graders are welcome, parents can register you at 6:00 pm.  We would love help from 6th graders and up. The evening will start in our Sanctuary. Friends are always welcome.  Be ready for some fun while learning about Nazareth.

“SPARKS” Group

The Women’s SPARKS (Study, Prayer, Action, Reflection, Koinonia) group which has met on Wednesday mornings at 7:30 will be changing our format slightly. While we will continue our study "The Names of God", we will be meeting at the church (First Presbyterian Church, 4 Clinton Street) at 7:30. Coffee, tea and hot cocoa are available at the church office. Feel free to bring your own breakfast and k-cup for the Keurig if you want. We will plan to meet in the church library.

Remember, even if you will not be here each week, you will still be able to participate in the group whatever Wednesdays you are able to attend. Our goal is to keep this group flexible and user friendly so we can grow in our relationships with God as we study God's Word. We would like this to be done with as little stress as possible for everyone.

We will work on getting some type of communication going so when things come up for each of us, we can let others know we will not be able to attend that day. Ideas are greatly appreciated.

If you have been considering joining the group, this would be a great time to start!

If you have any questions, please see Nancy in the church office.

Each Sunday morning during worship the Child Care room is available to parents following the Time with the Children. The child-care room is located in the CE wing of the building. Please contact an usher if you would like help getting to the child-care room on Sunday morning.

Vacation Bible School is held one week each summer Sunday - Thursday from 6:00 pm - 8:15 pm. Watch for more information coming soon.

Everyone plan to join us for an exciting and fun time! More information will soon be on the VBS page including the link to the registration form.

Dedicated volunteers are needed. Please contact any member of the Christian Education Committee (Joe Maxwell or Carolyn Massey) or call the church office.
