Holiday Bazaar and Sewing

What We Offer

The Holiday Bazaar is scheduled for Saturday, November 2nd, 2019. Watch for all the details in the upcoming Courier and on this website coming soon!

Sewing Fellowship

The Sewing Fellowship will meet as needed to assemble school and hygiene kits or host a special crafting session. If you have a project you would like to share with others or if you have any questions, please contact Renee Maxwell or Nancy Althaus in the church office. All are welcome.

Following the poem, the total amount to fill a stocking is $7.80. The money will be divided equally between Habitat for Humanity and Hospice. If you need a stocking, please contact the church office. Baskets with stockings are located throughout the church. Stockings (filled or unused) may also be left in the church office. If you have misplaced your stocking or have questions about this mission, please contact the church office.

Baby hats, baby blankets, children’s pillowcases and prayer shawls for Albany Medical are an ongoing mission project for our church. Completed items may be left on the shelf in the hospitality room. If you need a copy of the new 2019 guidelines or a pattern, please see Nancy in the church office or click on the links above.

Thanks to everyone for their help and support in these missions.

CWS School Kits

We will again be filling the Church World Service School Kits. Prayerfully consider filling a kit or purchasing items towards filling a kit and drop them off at the church office.  Items needed include:

• Three 70-count spiral notebooks or notebooks totaling 200-210 pages (no loose-leaf or filler paper)
• One 30-centimeter ruler (12")
• One hand-held pencil sharpener
• One large eraser
• Six new pencils with erasers
• One box of 24 crayons (only 24)
• One 12" x 14" to 14" x 17" finished size cotton or lightweight canvas bag with cloth handles. (Please, no reusable shopping bags or backpacks.) School bag pattern available in the church office and on the church website.
• Pack all items inside the cloth bag.
We especially need donations of 70-count spiral notebooks, school bags or fabric to be used to make the bags. See Nancy in the church office if you have any questions.

Any items for these kits that you would like to contribute are greatly appreciated. Completed kits or items for the kits may be left in the church office.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration and response.

The First Presbyterian Church Mission family has completed and delivered another “batch” of the Church World Service Mission School Bag and Hygiene Kits. This year, 16 completed school kits and 265 complete hygiene kits have been delivered to the drop off point for collection!!

A huge "Thank You" to everyone who supplied all the items and cash donations for the school bags and hygiene kits, supplied school bags and made school bags and those who helped assemble and box kits for delivery to the drop off point. We are very grateful to the Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery of Susquehanna Valley for providing the $562.00 processing/shipping costs for these kits.

The Church World Service Kits (Hygiene Kits, School Kits) are an ongoing mission project at First Presbyterian Church of Delhi. If you would like to help out, contact Nancy A. in the church office. Cash donations are still being accepted to offset the cost of items we can ordered in bulk. Donations can be left in the church office or placed in the offering plate, clearly marked “CWS Kits”.

Baby Hats, Blankets, Pillowcases & Prayer Shawls

Note new 2019 guidelines for hospital donations may be picked up in the church office.

Hospitals are deeply appreciative of your talents and generosity. Their main goal is to see that they can use all of what is given while utilizing their storage areas to the fullest potential.

We have recently sent off baby hats, blankets and prayer shawls to area hospitals in need for use in the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units.

Through your efforts we were able to send many pillowcases, hats, blankets and prayer shawls. Thanks to all.

REMINDER: We are still accepting hats, blankets, prayer shawls and pillowcases to be donated to area hospitals for children in ICU and neonatal intensive care unit. Keep those knitting needles and crochet hooks busy! If you need a pattern, please stop by the church office. Completed hats, blankets and pillowcases can be left in the Hospitality room and they will be picked up and taken to Albany or another hospital in need. Thank you for your ongoing support of this mission.
